I am a PhD Student in Political Science at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Prior to joining the PhD at LSE, I earned a Master’s degree in Political Science and Political Economy from the LSE and a Bachelor’s degree in Politics and Economics from the Lahore University of Management Sciences, Pakistan.

My research lies at the intersection of political behaviour, media effects, and identity politics. Despite increasing concerns about the role of political media in fostering extremism, we know little about the mechanisms through which it affects political behaviour in today’s saturated information environments. My research employs quantitative and quasi-experimental methods to study the effect of partisan media’s influence on political attitudes, beliefs and behaviour, and shows that news media does not simply transmit information but actively engages with pre-existing audience identity and ideology to shape attitudes and behaviour.

In addition to my work on media, I conduct research on political behaviour in South Asia. My findings suggest that targeted cash transfers to women influence intra-household dynamics by increasing female assertiveness and generating more independent political responses compared to male household members. I am also investigating the political attitudes of South Asian migrant communities, focusing on variations across immigration generations and the role of ethnic group density in shaping political views.
